Xpresso Book Tours: NO ONE'S ANGEL by Kelly Walker - book review and giveaway

No One's Angel by Kelly Walker
Publication date: September 17th 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
Tess used to spend more hours than she’d care to admit playing her favorite computer game, using the nickname Angel. She could pretend her life was different, and she could pretend Arion was just a friend. But a girl needs more to keep her warm at night than pixels and she traded her virtual heaven for a real life hell. Now she’s on the run from a past she won’t talk about, and the only place she has to go is the doorstep of the friend she’s never actually met.

When Angel disappeared from their nightly games, it nearly destroyed Arion. He threw himself into work and women, but he can’t help knowing the one night stands will never compare to the angel who haunts his dreams. At first, when she shows up soaking wet and scared-shitless on his doorstep, he thinks his prayers have been answered.

But the more Arion tries to keep Angel close, the more her fear drives her away. If they are ever going to have a chance for a future, they’ll first have to deal with the past that hasn’t forgotten her any more than she’s forgotten it, and Arion will have to learn how to let her go.

No One's Angel is a New Adult(NA) Contemporary Romance and is recommended for mature audiences only due to language and sexual content.

A_TiffyFit's Review:
Received a e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review for this blog tour. I was not compensated in any form.

I hesitate to say that this was a fun read for me due to subject matter (abuse), but in some ways, it really was. You see...I play(ed) World of Warcraft and that's how I met my boyfriend. The banter between Angel & Arion reminds me very much of the banter between me and my boyfriend, which made that part of the book very enjoyable indeed as I giggled and smiled.

I have read several books lately, all in a row, dealing with tough subject matter: rape, abuse, suicide, more abuse. It's strange how these things come in groups.

That being said, I knew that this one was going to be 1)cliffhanger free and 2) have a Happily Ever After (HEA). How did I know? The author tells you just so in the beginning of my copy.

Angel and Arion have been friends, more than friends, for years online in their computer game, WARQUEST. One day, Angel just ups and disappears only to show up unexpectedly at Arion's home clear across the country. Angel is skittish, scared, and hesitant to trust Arion even though instinct drove her to him. Arion is surprised and yet ecstatic to find his Angel on his doorstep. Slowly, Angel confesses what happened, why she disappeared, and why she is so damn scared.

With Arion's help, Angel starts to find herself again, re-discovering those feelings she had for Arion and that they are indeed real and not just part of the game bantering. Arion is determined not to let Angel slip away from him again. He is in love with Angel, always has been, and cannot imagine a future without her.

I really liked the characters in this book. They seemed very real and I definitely connected with their love of gaming and how Arion was eager to tell everyone that he found Angel. Guilds can be like family; you spend hours and hours with those people every week doing something fun, you tend to share your highs and lows.

Angel's fear of Nick is very palpable and the flashbacks show how insidiously he melted himself into her life and took control over her. When he finds her across the country...well, I'll let you read it. It is suspenseful and the tension is HIGH. Rest assured...there's a HEA and no cliffhanger. Phew! This was my first book by Kelly Walker and she is now on my list of must buys!
